Katadyn Quick Fill Hydration Adaptor Accessory Review

This is essentially a set of 3 bits for insertion into water tubing, a male/female set of blue bits for insertion into 1/4" tubign and a solitary white insert meant for use with some types of hydration bladder.

The blue bits allow you to set up a quick-disconnect attachment between any 1/4" diameter tubing, such as the tubes that come with the Katadyn water filters or the drinking tube on a Camelbak. For example, I have a Katadyn Hiker Pro that already has quick-disconnect fittings.The Hike Pro already comes with a set of these bits that I set up to a Nalgene bottle adapter, allowing me to fill bottles directly and detach the adapter to keep it clean. When I purchased this additional set I cut off the bite valve to my Camelbak and inserted the male end on the stub attached to the bite valve and put the female end on the bit of drink tube connected to the bladder. This allows me to disconnect the bite valve and connect the water filter so I can fill the bladder directly through the drinking tube.

These bits really enable you to connect a lot of different things to your water filter, making it a bit more flexible and convenient to use. It's a lot easier to fill up my Camelbak, for example, since I don't have to take my backpack off or open up the bladder to pour water in.
